It has also been home to transients and squatters, until we started building trails in the area. There are remnants of both pasts that you will see as you move through the trails.

This will be one of the funnest trails you will ride anywhere, I promise. It is safe and predictable for the most part, but your first time through, be careful... There are some off camber decents and turns that will take you by suprise if you are not ready, and they could end in a wreck if you are not paying attention.

The loop is somewhere between 3.5 and 4.5 miles, the actual mileage is under dispute at this time.

This is the first year this trail is in operation (2008) and it has had a good response so far. Please ride, run, and enjoy it - many folks have put in countless hours on this one, and I would say it has had the best community participation of any of the trails that have been built in town so far. It is loved by many - already!

Honey Creek Conservation Area

The "A" Route is in Blue. This mildly hilly and sometimes technical set of trails is the perfect weekday evening loop. Because the older main trails cross the loop trails multiple times, the course can be confusing to first timers. The full loop including some of the over-grown grass sections is between 4.5 - 5 miles long. Without the grass sections it is 4 - 4.5 miles and is easily linked with Corby North on the other side of the parkway.

Corby North Loop

Corby North must be the favorite trail of most STJ Mountain Bikers. It is approximately 3.5 miles and is easily linked with the Corby South trails on the otherside of the parkway.

Brownie Scout Trail

The Newer Brownie Map

The Older Brownie Map

This section of trail is just the first part of a much longer loop that is in the works. Look at all that green yet to be explored. The Brownie trail is very technical, off camber, rocky, tight, and fun. Enjoy this one, but don't try it if your nerves or bike handling skills are shaky. The currently complete trail is about 1.5 miles. The trail starts just East on the Parkway across from Krug park.

Krug Race Loop

KRUG PARK MTB RACE LOOP

Krug.... This is a tough course by all standards. It can be confusing with multiple trail crossings, and the 5.5 miles in the loop can seem like 10 or more. Hills are long and steep, and left over from a time when trails were built straight up and down the contour of the slope. Washed out and rooty climbs/decents are the rule. Even still, once the subtle charm of the trails are realized, a love affair with this trail system quickly blooms.

Summer is a tough time in Krug park though. Idiot teenager vandalism, and massive spider-webs every 5-10 feet at face level can ruin the experience of this trail pretty quickly. However, between the months of November and May, Krug park is some of the toughest, best mountain biking you will find in Saint Joseph, or anywhere.
